Chocolate Chip Brownie Skillet with Sea Salt & Caramel

Kicking off the month of love & chocolate with my LOVE for chocolate. There's nothing I enjoy more than a salty sweet combo and this easy delish brownie is perfect for you, two or a crowd!

I'm sharing the recipe I use for homemade brownies, BUT if you're in need of time and appreciate a good life hack - feel free to use store bought brownie mix. Follow instructions on the box and be sure to add your chocolate chips !

What you'll need!

Brownie Ingredients

  • 1/4 pound (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 4 ounces plus 1/2 cup Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

  • 1 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate

  • 2 extra large eggs

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, divided

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salts

Toppings

Caramel Sauce - I use Smuckers !

Sea Salt & Chocolate Chips for topping

What you'll do!

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter, 4 ounces of chocolate chips, and the unsweetened chocolate together in a medium bowl set over simmering water. Set aside for 15 minutes.

In a large bowl, stir the eggs, vanilla and sugar. Stir the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and allow to cool to room temperature.

In a medium bowl, sift together 1/4 cup of the flour, the baking powder and salt and add to the chocolate mixture. Toss together the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and one tablespoon of flour in a medium bowl and add them to the chocolate mixture.

If you're using store bought brownie mix, skip the steps above and go straight to skillet prep below!

Grease the skillet with shortening (or butter) and spoon the mixture evenly in the skillet. Top with extra chocolate chips and pop into the oven

Bake for 35 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before drizzling the caramel sauce.

Sprinkle sea salt and cut into cake like pieces.

Serve warm & enjoy!
